The Indonesian government is launching a major initiative to achieve national fertilizer self-sufficiency,
spearheaded by the construction of seven new, modern fertilizer plants over the next five years, with five targeted for completion by 2029. Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman announced the project's development budget is approximately IDR 50 trillion (USD 3 billion). A key feature of these new facilities will be their energy efficiency, which is projected to cut operational gas expenses to only 22–23 percent, a significant reduction from the 43 percent spent by older factories, thereby lowering production costs.

Furthermore, the Indonesian government also aims to address the buildup of inventory in warehouses
due to financial constraints at state sugar factories and pressure from imported sugar. Through Danantara and ID FOOD, the government has allocated Rp 1.5 trillion to absorb domestic sugar farmers' sugar to maintain price stability at the producer level. This strategic step was agreed upon during a coordination meeting in Surabaya with various stakeholders to ensure sugar prices do not fall below the Reference Sales Price (HAP) of Rp 14,500 per kilogram, with a shared commitment to eliminate detrimental cashback practices and strengthen supervision of refined sugar distribution to prevent it from seeping into the retail market.

Driven by the growth of Indonesia’s agriculture industry, the INAGRITECH 2025 exhibition was a major success. The event was officially opened by high-level dignitaries, including Vice Minister of Agriculture, H. Sudaryono. The three-day exhibition hosted 366 exhibitors from 20 countries and attracted over 34,000 trade visitors from the agriculture industry, who gathered to discover the latest market trends and solutions.
