At present, China’s garden machine industry is growing at a rapid pace, and in the future, it will be pushed forward by following favorable factors.

Urban Greening

Issued by the State Council, Notice on Enhancing Urban Greening explicitly stipulates that greening plays an important part in urban landscaping, and we should exert great efforts on this field and improve ecological environment.

According to National Bureau of Statistics, China’s investment in landscaping increased from 35.95 bln to 238.004 bln RMB during the period of 2004 to 2012. Since 1990s, urban renewal has reached a record high in lots of large and medium-sized cities, with urban greening being a crucial part among these projects. The rapid development of urban greening generates massive demand for plant cultivation and conservation, which greatly promotes garden machine industry.

Improved Living Conditions

With China’s rapid economic development, high-rise housings, duplex buildings, townhouses and detached villas are put up everywhere. Living space per capita of urban residents grew rapidly from 19.4 sq.m. in 2001 to 36 sq.m. in 2011. Meanwhile, people begin to attach great importance to interior design, and pursue home gardening lifestyle, exerting a positive impact on garden machines.

Higher Living Standards

By analyzing the history of garden machinery industry, we found that GDP, per capita income and related factors have significant effects on industrial development. From 2002 to 2012, disposable income per capita of urban households in China increased annually. It reached 24,565 RMB in 2012, up 218.9% from 2002. During the same period, GDP per capita almost hit or exceeded 8,000 RMB in developed countries (Shanghai, Beijing, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, etc) and approached 6,000 RMB in major provincial capital cities as well as costal areas. Due to the increasingly improved living standards, demand for garden machines will be boosted in the future.

Diversified Sales Channels

A great variety of garden machines are now available in garden centers, franchised outlets and other new channels. Retail outlets can offer consulting services and product experience, meeting consumers’ one-stop purchasing demand. In addition, network sales make procurement more convenient. Diversified sales channels can effectively help stimulate customer desires to buy garden machines.
